Thinking ahead to protect Australia’s past

 

Brief


Australia ICOMOS is the Australian arm of the International Council on Monuments and Sites: a non-government, not-for-profit organisation of cultural heritage professionals with the mission to lead cultural heritage conservation in Australia. They are best known for leading the development and adoption of the Burra Charter which defines best practice standards for managing cultural heritage places. Upon expiration of their existing Strategic Plan, the executive team were in need of refreshing their purpose and plan of action.

 

Approach


Left Bank Co. were engaged by Australia ICOMOS executive team to provide facilitation and strategic planning services in order to assist leadership in the development of the organisation's 2017-22 Strategic Plan and Action Plan. Left Bank Co. led the facilitation of a one-day intensive, including activities to rethink the vision, mission and values that underpin all that the organisation does. This was critical for the organisation as it seeks ways to make a bigger impact on the broader community. This was followed by the collaborative production of the Action Plan to formulate and refine the organisation’s priorities.

 

Impact


Left Bank Co. armed the organisation with ambitious yet practical tools to keep them on track and accountable to their membership for the next five years.
